Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty

Tummy Tuck ( abdominoplasty ) is used to tighten the sagging skin in the lower abdomen that creates the infamous "pooch". This sagging of the lower abdomen can also be caused from injured or stretched abdominal wall muscles. This condition often results from the effects of pregnancy or previous abdominal surgeries. During a tummy tuck procedure, if extra fat exists in this area,  removal of it can be performed in some cases.  Sometimes liposuction is performed during a tummy tuck, in addition to the traditional tightening of loose skin. Normally the incision is made below the waste line, and in line with the natural body creases. There will be a horizontal scar, but it is usual minimal. Recovery from this surgery is usually 2-4 weeks.

It is important to not  expect a perfectly flat stomach.  This will not be the results you will get.  You can expect a lessing of the "pooch" effect that often occurs with age at the waste band area.

Ask you surgeon to see pictures of other patients to have a realistic expectation.
